Underneath the Arches

The point where three bridges cross the River Medway just upriver from Rochester, Kent. The two bridges in the foreground carry the M2 motorway. The bridge in the background is for the Eurostar/High Speed Rail link from London to the Channel Tunnel.

Kingsnorth Power Station

Kingsnorth power station in Kent - a bete noir for environmental protesters as it burns coal. Shot taken across fields of wheat. The black and white gives it a moody feel.

Skull

As you can see my new diet is going well....

Actually this is one of Charles Darwin's specimens on display at Down House in Kent where he lived for many years. The house is open to the public and well worth a visit if you are in the area.

I will (eventually) write a post one day about the great man on my Kent blog.

Angel

Angel This picture was taken in a cemetery at Dartford, Kent. I like the "halo" effect around the wings.

Jim

This is Jim. The senior cat of the house (or so he likes to think). Normally he gets bossed around by his three sisters and is scared of his own shadow. As you can see, he does like to have his portrait taken from time to time.

Embracing the Sea

A sculpture on the sea front at Deal in Kent called "Embracing the Sea" which I think made a good shot in black and white.

The same tree in colour and again in black and white.
Which version do you prefer?

Drowning Man

Drowning Man - Destroyer Memorial, Chatham, Kent

This is a close up shot I took a few months ago. It is part of the Destroyer Memorial at Chatham Historic Dockyard in Kent.

The memorial commemorates all the Royal Navy destroyer personnel lost during the Second World War.

The destroyers formed the backbone of the Royal Navy and were used in every theatre from the Arctic Circle to the Pacific and in a multitude of roles.

The Historic Dockyard is well worth a visit if you find yourself in the area. A wide range of exhibits including the destroyer HMS Cavalier.
